VASRA State Championship Regatta report

On Saturday May 13th at Occoquan. We didn't make it out of the heats (we finished 3rd of 5 but needed to place in the top two)  so it was effectively "one and done." The same fate came to Granby, Norfolk Academy, and Gloucester. The only EVSRA crews to make the finals were Cox and Great Bridge. I suppose a small moral victory was that our time was faster than NAs. Our girls learned a lot, including the fact that the first WV4 crews had times not appreciably different from the WJr4s. Next year we expect to enter the 1st WV4 event.

Mathews regatta report

We went to Mathews on Saturday May 5th. The conditions in the early morning were so un-rowable that the organizers thought about cancelling the racing. Eventually they decided to cancel all novices and sculling events (except for the quads) but gave a green light to the first four events (all varsity 4 crews) and then re-assess.
